The Red Sox had a great season, but sadly fell short against their largest rival in the playoffs. Drake Maye is looking like an MVP candidate for the 10-2 top of the AFC East Patriots. What’s going on, to come and how far can the Pats go?

In an away, best-of-three game series against the New York Yankees, the Red Sox lost in three games. The Red Sox won game one, 3-1, but then the Yankees battled back and won two straight, ending the Red Sox’ season.
Next year, the Red Sox look to be better than ever when rookie stars from this year, Roman Anthony and Marcelo Mayer, who suffered injuries, will be back.
The Detroit Tigers have the best pitcher in baseball, Tarik Skubal, a left-hander who can reach speeds up to 103 miles an hour and has loads of movement on his breaking balls. But his contract is coming to a close after next year, and the Tigers don’t want to pay him. Because of this, he has entered the trade block, and the Red Sox are the odds-on favorite to land him. If they pull this off, they will add and fill one of their biggest holes, making them a threat for years to come.

The Pats have had a rough go of it for the last half-decade without Tom Brady, but it didn’t take long to find him again, except in the form of Drake Maye. The second-year man out of North Carolina (UNC) has been an immense addition to the team and the main part of their success. Every win that comes in Foxborough, Gillette rings loud with MVP chants from the Patriots fanbase.
New head coach, former patriot Mike Vrabel, has led the locker room, and he’s been able to keep the team fired up throughout the week. New to the Pats, but veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs has been a great addition and a safety target for Drake Maye.
Rookie running back Treveyon Henerson out of Ohio State looked great in the preseason and had yet to get a good amount of touches. But with Antonio Gibson being out for the year and Rhamondre Stevenson missing a few games, he was the lead back. He exploded against the Buccaneers with two 50+ yard touchdowns. It continued against the Jets in primetime with three total touchdowns, two on the ground and one in the air. He has looked fantastic and by far the best back the Pats have.
They beat their biggest division rival, the Buffalo Bills, on the road, and the other teams in the AFC East have not looked great by any means. They have the 3rd easiest schedule in the league, and other than their home game against the Bills later in the season, they don’t have much competition ahead of them.
They aim to stay hot for the rest of the season and remain atop the AFC East to make a playoff run in January.
