Q: What is your name and how do you spell it?
A: AnaPaula Abanto Arellano
Q: How has your first year of teaching been?
A: I don’t remember half of it. I think it is a lot of information you have to learn and adapt. It’s been great, though. I feel like every day gets better.
Q: What is something you wish you had known before teaching?
A: Probably how different generations are taught, and how they work with different things, it is a total different way that you guys are learning.
Q: Did you always know you wanted to be a teacher
A: I don’t know because when I was younger, I used to go to church and we used to teach the kids, and I really liked that, but then I went to school for international relations, so kind of nothing to do with teaching, but out of school, most of my jobs have been sales, so I really like dealing with people. But what really made me want to teach was babysitting.
Q: What is something you would tell a first-time teacher?
A: The best thing you can do is talk to your peers and teachers who teach the same subject, so definitely become friends with them. They just know more because they have been teaching for so many yrs and they really help me out, they contain much knowledge and amazing advice.
Q: If you didn’t teach Spanish, what would you teach?
A: Art or English because reading is so fun.
