Recognizing the mental health struggles students face, Emily Morgan, the president of the Morgan’s Message chapter at Norwood High, wanted to bring a resource to our school for student athletes who might need support with their mental health.
Morgan brought this organization to the NHS because, as an athlete herself, she wanted to make sure her peers felt supported, since maintaining mental health is a significant thing to her.
“I wanted to bring Morgan’s Message Norwood, because mental health is something that’s very close to my heart,” Emily Morgan said. “I wanted to make sure that it was well represented at NHS, especially athlete mental health, since I’ve been an athlete since I could walk”.
Mental health being something that many people struggle with, Emily intended Morgan’s Message would be used as a source of support for the many teen athletes that we have here at NHS, many of whom balance stressful academic lives on top of their sports.

“I just hope to bring awareness to mental health, especially with athletes and distribute resources that anyone can use at any time, and just make sure people have [resources] so they know that they’re not alone”.
Thanks to Emily’s efforts, our school now has a support system available to any athlete in need. Her initiative highlights the importance of the mental health of all students.
