Classic charm and modern flair meet at Melty located in Dedham, the sandwich shop that just recently opened in early 2025. Despite their recent release into the restaurant industry, their customer service and restaurant decoration tell the story of a much more practiced establishment.
Upon walking into the place, I was immediately taken aback by the modern decoration adorning the walls. The arrangement of the booths and tables gave the restaurant an open look, and with the combination of the calculated organization of the seating aswell as the charming decor, the restaurant had a classic ambiance that led to me going into the experience with high expectations.

Looking at the menu, the first thing that I noticed was the somewhat limited options. While the menu offered a variety of melted sandwich options, there wasn’t much else to choose from. With that being said, if you are someone who doesn’t like sandwiches, I would advise you to choose another place.
Ultimately, after scanning the menu, I chose to order a classic grilled cheese sandwich as I thought it would provide me with enough information to make a proper review of the restaurant’s food without ordering anything too crazy or expensive.
After placing my order with the worker behind the front desk, I waited to receive my order at a booth not too far from the entrance. While waiting, I took note of the fact that the entire time I had been there, nobody else had walked in. This surprised me, as my experience so far had been that of a highly practiced and professional establishment. However, even with that being said, I hadn’t tried the food yet, so I was unequipped to make a proper assessment at this time.
Eventually, after not too long a wait, I had my order brought over to me. The sandwich was not too big in size and was served on white, fluffy bread. The sandwich was made with a blend of provolone, fontina, Havarti, and sharp cheddar cheese, which had a long cheese pull when I bit into it. In total, for just the sandwich, my total came to. The sandwich was exceptional, and after the experience I had at Melty, I would absolutely go back again.
While the restaurant doesn’t offer the most expansive menu or the closest proximity to other restaurants located near Norwood, I would absolutely recommend Melty as a place to add to your bucket list. The quiet restaurant provides a calming environment, which may be optimal for those who are interested in studying or just enjoying a calming meal with friends and family.
Though the restaurant’s options may be limited, this is something that helps Melty develop its brand as a melted sandwich restaurant. And even with this being said, the options on the menu are things that your average person, even those who consider themselves pickier eaters, would find a way to enjoy.
So, with that being said, I would recommend Melty to a variety of students here at NHS who enjoy calming environments and delicious, classic foods!
