Chase Chastanet is a junior on the Norwood Varsity Football team. Chase has been playing football ever since the first grade. He has been in love with the game ever since. Chase was excited to have the opportunity to play for NHS in 2023, when he became a freshman. He has been playing as a running back and cornerback for the Mustangs ever since.
In the spring of his sophomore year, Chastanet was playing for the Norwood lacrosse team like he usually did until something happened that would affect the rest of his lacrosse season and possibly his football season. Chase found himself in a bad collision in a game, resulting in a broken collarbone.
“I caught the ball, started running, truck one kid, absolutely put him in the turf; see another kid and absolutely maul him, then the third kid comes out of nowhere; blindside hit getting the better of me, hitting me in the collar bone. I ran to the sideline, thinking to myself, “Wow, that really hurt.” It wasn’t until I grabbed my collarbone that I self-diagnosed it was broken,” Chastanet said.
Chastenet didn’t let this injury affect his future seasons and got to work so he could put in the necessary work on the football field that fall.

“I got surgery, a metal plate and seven screws in my collarbone, reconstructed that thing, and six weeks later I was able to start PT,” said Chastanet.
Many fans, like junior Michael Dever, were looking forward to watching him play, as he was expected to be a significant part of the Mustangs’ offense and defense.
“He’s one of my favorite players to watch, and I’m always looking out for 25 out on the field every Friday night,” Dever said.
Chastanet worked hard over the summer, going to the gym and taking care of his body to heal. He received the green light from his coach to return to football and is having a great season so far.
“I was always confident Chase would be able to bounce back; he’s got a good mindset and a lot of grit,” Dever said.
