Did you know that there is a Track and Field coach for the Norwood Track and Field Team?
The new hire is Kiam Richards, who is also a TASC teacher. With many coaches stepping away from their role on the Track and Field coaching staff, Mr Richards. stepped in for their replacement.
Coach Richards threw the javelin in high school; he’s very prepared to bring the team some new insight.
The season is coming to an end, and Mr. Richards sees this season as a process. The Track and Field team finished their season with a record of 0-5, but Richards has seen improvement.
“It’s going good, it’s a progress as far as showing everybody fundamentals, working on our skills, and increasing our potential,” he said.
Richards came into the season having made up his mind on what his priorities would be related to the team.
“As a coach, making sure everyone’s on task, making sure we are using our time wisely with the practices, and really focusing on what we need to work on,” he said.
Richards poured his whole heart into this season and kept everyone disciplined. Richards wanted his athletes to succeed so much.
One of the highlights of Richards’ season was when Junior Benjamin Powell accomplished a personal record, and everyone cheered him on.
Although this was Richard’s first year, he made sure to keep everyone focused at all times and build long-lasting relationships.
Junior Captain Kerlleson Oliveira has been significantly impacted by Coach Richards.
“I feel like I truly made a lifelong relationship with Coach Richards, and he wants to see me succeed. I’m beyond grateful to have him as a coach,” said Oliveira.
