The NHS National Honor Society held a blood drive on Wednesday, March 4, in the high school gym. They were able to collect 36 pints of blood, which could save many people in need of blood.
A few of the students who gave blood all stated that when giving blood, it felt more like a faint pinch, so people shouldn’t be scared to donate. After the students gave blood, they were able to receive snacks that the nurses and supervisors provided for them.
“The band hurt a little bit, and the inversion of the needle hurt a bit, but other than a mild pain in my arm, it wasn’t that bad; it was manageable,” senior Nicolli Bengolea said.
“You get to miss class for it, and it also helps people in need,” junior Jack O’Keefe said.
Like many of the people there, he said it was his first time donating blood too and described it as a “subtle pinch in the arm.”
“I want to support people in need because I am healthy and I have the ability to donate, and it’s also nice to get free snacks,” said junior Sophie Brogadir.
