Ava O’Neil
What would you say to get more fans in the stands?
I would say Norwood teams should support each other. The girl’s basketball team can definitely start supporting other sports too and get out to other games so hopefully we get that in return.
What are your goals for this season?
I love the energy, there’s no drama, it’s healthy competition, everyone gets along and my goal for the season is to just continue that culture around Norwood girl’s basketball and just get after it. One thing we do is work hard.
How will you keep the energy high, both on and off the court?
On the court, I think that comes a lot from me and Ava as captains doing everything we can to keep everyone up at practice, build up everyone’s confidence, just being upperclassmen too, making sure even the juniors know they have such a big impact too this year. And then off the court, it’s just treating your teammates with respect, pasta dinners, team bonding, everything like that.
What are you most looking forward to this season?
I’m most looking forward to the good freshman coming in. I’m excited to see how they all come in and play because I know they’ve been playing with each other for a while. I saw some of their middle school games too, that’s just a talented group coming in and I’m excited to see how they fit into the program.
