Lexi Rodriguez is an up-and-coming volleyball star. In her past four years at the University of Nebraska, many young women started to look up to her. Her last season with the Huskers blew up on social media and her name is more known than ever.
Growing Up With Lexi
Lexi Rodriguez was born on March 11, 2003. She was raised in Sterling, Illinois. Rodriguez was the youngest of two daughters born to Chris and Crystal Rodrigues. Growing up, she attended Sterling High School, where her volleyball career started. According to “Rouge 330 Volleyball,” in her junior year of high school, she led her team to two Illinois state titles and set her school record for career digs. During this time, she was also given the title of “Gatorade Player Of The Year.” Soon after, she started club volleyball for “Sports Performance Volleyball” and “Club Fusion Volleyball.” There, she won three national titles, which put her in the 10th-best recruit and top libero of the 2021 class.
Lexi’s College Experience
After high school, Lexi attended the University of Nebraska, where she planned to get a degree in advertising and public relations. This was also where she started blowing up due to her being such a talented player. She played as a libero for the Cornhuskers all 4 years of college. The Nebraska volleyball site states that just in Rodriguez’s freshman year, she made a career-high by getting 4.33 digs per set in each game she played. During this time, she was the first libero to be named “AVCA National Freshman of the Year.” Rodriguez’s sophomore and junior years, she continued to grow, becoming a better player. In her senior year, she really blew up on social media, and younger girls who play the same position she really started to look up to her.
End of college career
In the last game of her college season, her team went against PENN state, where they unfortunately lost but played an awesome game (3-2). This broke Lexi’s heart but she stated on her Instagram that her college volleyball experience is really all that matters.
Exciting News!
Just two days after Rodriguez’s last game playing for the University of Nebraska, she signed with “LOVB Omaha” to start her professional volleyball career. LOVB Omaha is an American women’s professional indoor volleyball league.
