Mackenzie Flynn is a senior captain on the Norwood Girls’ varsity soccer team. Flynn has been playing soccer since she was in kindergarten and hasn’t stopped playing since.
When Flynn was a freshman, she didn’t let her nerves get to her when it came to soccer and ended up starting on varsity as a freshman, and she has been starting ever since.

Aside from playing high school soccer, Mackenzie also does club soccer in her own time.
“I started club soccer in fourth grade with just a small club team in Walpole and then I like moved on to play on the Boston Bolts, and last year I moved to Mass City which is a little further away but its more competition and then this year I am going to New England Force so even bigger competition which is awesome!” said Flynn.
For Flynn, soccer isn’t just a sport; it’s her way of balancing out the different aspects of her life.
“It’s like I use it as a way to balance everything out, like if something’s going on, I can just go to the field and shoot around,” Flynn says.
Being on a team is also something that Mackenzie loves about her sport.
“ Being on a team… It’s like these are my friends, who I’ve grown up with, especially with the club. It’s not people from Norwood, so I like, get to branch out a little bit.”

Mackenzie then shares how soccer can help ease her back into the school year.
“But being at Norwood, like getting to go through like a day of school, and like the summer, coming back here to then have a foundation to kinda like use in school, that’s really nice.”
Being a soccer player means a lot to Mackenzie as it’s what she’s been doing for her whole life, and with that passion, she has made herself grow as a person and a player, and she hopes to continue to play soccer in college, whether it’s club or collegiate.
“I love it, I’ve been playing for so long and never stopped loving it.”
