Freshman Bridget Flynn, has become one of the most accomplished members of Norwood High’s 2025 cross country and track season.
Bridget has competed in major meets and competitions with herself and many other peers, qualifying for some of the best meets they can. Flynn has competed in Norwood’s fall and winter seasons. Throughout the year, she continued to exceed her coaches and her own expectations.
“I remember hearing about her last year from people, seeing how unbelievable she was, and to watch out for her. And that is very true. She’s unreal. I think she could break some of Natalie’s [Natalie Martin] records by the time she’s a senior,” stated girls’ track coach Alanna Keady.
Fall Season
Flynn’s fall season was her first time competing on the Norwood High cross country team.
She prepared in the off-season and worked hard with her teammates in the pre-season, getting ready for what would be a great rookie season.
One of the first-ever events Flynn ran in was a meet between Norwood and Hopkinton.
Here, Flynn ran a 21:11 for her first 3-meter race at Norwood High School.
After that, it just kept going uphill for Flynn; she competed at invitationals such as the MSTCA Frank Mooney Invitational for Freshmen, where she accomplished 3000 meters, in an 11:.46.21 time. As Well as the MSTCA Bob Glennon Twilights XC Invitational, and the MSTCA Bay State XC Invitational.
To end her first cross-country season, Flynn competed in three different championships for MIAA Division Two.
Flynn finished in 24th place, but also as the second freshman to finish with a time of 20:41.95 to end it out in the D2 Meet of Champions.

Spring Season
After an amazing start to her track career in the fall, Flynn is excited for future seasons and is still figuring out ways to improve her skills.
“I am hoping to make more progress to be the best I can…I’m hoping to… maybe get school records”, stated Flynn
To end her freshman year, Flynn joined the spring girls’ track team at Norwood. Starting off strong, Flynn accomplished a 5.42.38 in the girls’ 1 mile at the team’s first meet of the Spring.
Flynn competed in multiple events throughout the Spring, such as the 1 mile, 2 mile, 4×400 relay, and the 4×800 relay.
At these events, Flynn competed with many of her teammates, creating new friendships on and off the track.
Another freshman runner, Aria Callanan, shared what it was like running with Flynn
“Competing with Bridget was very inspirational, and it pushed me to strive to be a better runner because of how good she was,” said Callanan.
With amazing times in all of her events, her mile event didn’t keep her in it as long as the relays.
Flynn and her teammates, freshman Shealyn Coyle, sophomore Kerin Gorman, and senior Natalie Martin, led themselves to the MIAA Meet of Champions for the 4×800 relay. They ended her season with a 9:50.14 time with her team.
Bridget Flynn’s freshman season was nothing short of amazing, and she is excited to move forward in her solo and team events for the future seasons of her Norwood High track career.
