Norwood police at the scene of the fire.
On May 23, 2025, Norwood High School Students and Staff were forced to evacuate the building after a fire occurred in the first-floor restroom. Luckily, everyone managed to evacuate quickly and safely in time for first responders to arrive and address the situation.
The fire alarm was triggered at approximately 11:20 AM. The reason for the fire is unknown; however, it is confirmed that it started inside a trash can in the first-floor bathroom.

“When the fire alarm went off, I just thought it was a drill and we didn’t take it that seriously, but the teachers made sure we got out of the building safely,” said junior Ariannah Blake.
The Norwood Police Department took to Instagram: “All staff and students have evacuated the building. We are assisting the Norwood Fire Department on scene. All students and staff have evacuated safely.”
Thanks to teachers, administrators, and the Norwood Police and Fire Departments, no students were harmed, and the school day was able to continue after some time.
