This spring at Norwood High School, Juniors Madelyn Lyons and Scarlett Williams are organizing a “Spring Drive” where students, staff, and families can donate various items to families and communities in need.
“We decided to bring together this drive for the spring season to collect donations for families in need and give back to communities” said Junior Scarlett Williams.
Madelyn and Scarlett’s idea for the drive began in January of 2025 and now they’re making their vision come to life.

“There are many families in many different areas who are in homeless shelters who are constantly moving and going under renovation, so, we thought that we could bring together different items that could help support them,” said Lyons.
The two of them are looking for items such as towels, silverware, plates, some basic necessities like shampoo, conditioner, and toothpaste, and even some fun crafts like lettered beads and key chain kits.
The Spring Drive is accepting donations from now up until April 11, 2025. Baskets to drop your donations off are located in the Norwood High School main lobby and outside the Norwood High School Gymnasium.

Donating to the Spring Drive is a great way to give back to families in need just in time for spring.
“There’s always a time where it’s great to give back especially if you have the ability to do so,” said Williams.
