Advanced acting troupe, also known as Fest, advanced to the semi-finals on March 1 in the METG High School Drama Festival, hosted here at NHS with the student-written and produced play, “Honey, I’m Home.”
Advanced Acting Troupe is a drama class taught by teacher John Quinn. The class is open to sophomores through seniors.
In this class, students produce a play from scratch and compete against other high schools in a program called the Massachusetts High School Drama Festival. There are three stages to the competition: preliminaries, semi-finals, and state finals.
“[Fest is] a high school theatre competition that lets kids express what they feel are on present topics,” said freshman stage manager Abigail Gorman.
This year the preliminary round was hosted here at Norwood High on March 1.
“Our play is named “Honey I’m Home” and was written by Bridget Stenstrom and Nicole Martino,” said freshman Jacklyn Varney.
The play “Honey I’m Home!” is a thriller written by Bridget Stenstrom and Nicole Martino. It follows the lead character Betty (played by Stenstrom) and her responses to her childhood trauma.
