Shea Larkee: “I feel like for me leadership means a lot especially on and off the field. Everyone on our team is working towards a common goal and how we get there has a lot to do with the attitudes on the field, the mindset, the positive talk, and so it’s just taking that role and doing it with all the energy I have, to try and create success and have fun with my team.
Off the field, it does look a little different but it’s just as important because you want to be a school leader in class, not even just for my teammates, but for people all around. I think it’s such an important role.”
Ava O’Neil: “On the field it’s about motivating your teammates and doing the hard things to get your team to where you want to be. Everyone has to be accountable on the field, being able to give and respectfully take criticism and it’s because we want everyone to push their limits.
I think off the field it’s the same thing. If there’s is an issue or we are not going to our full potential, it’s about having those tough conversations where we say ‘We need to pick it up’, and being kind to everyone around you because you do not know what they’re going through so you should always take that with grace and be as kind as you can as a teammate.”
