The NHS cheerleaders have been preparing since August for their upcoming competition season which kicks off this Sunday, October 13 in Fall River, Massachusetts.
Coach Jill Buckman has been coaching since 2009 and has led past teams to many victories. All four senior captains have been a part of Norwood Cheerleading since elementary school.
This competition will be the class of 2025 cheerleaders’ last first competition which brings a lot of excitement but also some bittersweetness to the team.
“Last one, best one,” said Senior Gracie Goyco.
A normal practice for the team consists of stunts, tumbling, jumps, and dance. They start off their practices with a warm-up and then get right into their first “full out” of the practice.
A “full out” simply means that the team runs their routine with every element included.
They put up all of their stunts, throw all of their tumbling, and everything else needed in order to get a perfect score in their competition.
The team is feeling very good about their upcoming season.
“This is our year,” said senior captain Kaylin Carreiro
The team has been putting in a lot of work, effort, and long hours to prepare for their season.
A successful season starts with “putting in 110% effort, 100% of the time,” said senior captain Charlotte Martino.
