“Dig pink is more than just a game, it’s for a cause” said girl’s volleyball captain, Madelyn Lyons.
On October 9, 2024, Norwood High School’s Girls Volleyball Team hosted their annual “Dig-Pink” game to raise money for breast cancer awareness. The girls decorated the gym with pink posters, streamers, and balloons. The team also put together a bake sale in which all the proceeds go towards breast cancer awareness charity.
“I love the dig pink game because I think the energy is really high and it’s for a really great cause. I love how everyone comes out and supports and wears their pink. I think it’s really fun,” said Captain Madelyn Lyons.
To lift team spirit even more, some of the girls spray painted their hair pink and warmed up in matching pink t-shirts.
Senior Olivia Loud, who is playing girl’s volleyball for her fourth year at Norwood High School this year, explained, “I love decorating the gym and getting all dressed up and having a lot of fun for a good cause.”
Unfortunately, Norwood did not pull out a win, losing 3-0 sets against Ashland.
However, they put up a good fight with aces from junior Abby Curran, senior Colleen Brady, and sophomore Sarah Randall.
It was a good game for freshman Brenna Forbes, who left scoring points with two blocks and a kill. Senior captain Colleen Brady, junior captain Maddy Lyons, and sophomore Sarah Randall scored points with successful kills as well.
